Statement on Political Representation
Since the General election, it has become increasingly clear that the Labour Party does not represent the working class.
Labour under Keir Starmer has;
Continued with austerity – attacked pensioners, the disabled and the very poor with cuts to benefits
Blamed vulnerable immigrants for the crisis in the system rather than the super rich who get rich at our expense giving encouragement to the far right.
Gone back on his pledge to restore pension rights to WASPI women.
Supported the reactionary decision of the Hodge review that “Trans” women are not women.
Done little of any substance to condemn the genocide being inflicted on the Palestinians in Gaza.
Labour’s policies have attacked the working class and unsurprisingly some workers are deserting Labour and looking for alternatives. Many have mistakenly looked to ReformUK which is an anti-working class right wing populist party which blames immigration for the capitalist crisis and wants to completely privatise the NHS introducing an American style private health insurance scheme rather than healthcare being free at the point of demand.
We need to build a working class based alternative to the failed policies of the Labour Party and the rest of the establishment that can challenge Reform’s false promises.
We invite you to attend a meeting to discuss the way forward.
