Sarah L Dixon joins us on 2nd July as part of her multi-date tour of the region celebrating the release of her new collection A bit like falling in love, and we can’t wait to hear it.
Come join us at Hull Central Library 2 – 4pm in the James Reckitt Reading Room where Sarah will be reading from her new book, and selling and signing a few copies. Get centre stage at our open mic and look out for the live writing exercise on the day.
Sarah L Dixon lives in a glorious Huddersfield valley. Sarah’s new book about being a 90s indie kid, A bit like falling in love is launched on 10th October 2024. This has received glowing reviews from 90s indie legends including Jim Bob (Carter USM), Jonn Penney (Neds) & Ian Prowse (Amsterdam).
‘Dixon’s beautiful words attest to the powerful communion between bands and fans.’ Ian Dench EMF
‘Dixon’s collection often reminded me of reading poems by the Liverpool poets that I used to love. Something about the language and the mood and the way the poems are very much set in the real world.’ James Robert Morrsion, Carter USM
‘It’s very easy for us on this side of the barrier to forget (or ignore) what it’s like for our listeners. Dare I say it music is a life saver for all of us and Dixon’s love of it comes across beautifully.’ Ian Prowse, Amsterdam & Pele
Women of Words is an event series and platform for women writers, set up in 2016 as a response to what was then a male dominated scene. The stage is reserved for women, but men are and have always been, welcome in the audience.
