Fresh Ink is an theatre festival designed to support writers from Hull to create and develop new plays in the city.
Inspired by “scratch” theatre nights, the focus is on performing early versions of new ideas to audiences and gathering feedback to support the next stages of their development.
Featuring:
🟢 Seven rehearsed readings of brand-new plays by writers from Hull, especially commissioned for the festival
🟡 Workshops from Javaad Alipoor, Holly Beasley-Garrigan, Lydia Marchant, Nathan Queeley Dennis and Tom Wells
🔵 Free industry talks from Tabby Lamb, Cheryl Martin (Red Ladder), Holly Williams (Exeunt Magazine) and Matt Woodhead (LUNG Theatre)
🔴 Keynote speeches from playwright Maureen Lennon and National Theatre dramaturg Ola Animashawun
🟡 Sharings of work from the Middle Child Writers’ Group and a first look at Middle Child’s 2026 production of Isabelle by Marc Graham
🟢 "Bring you lunch" networking sessions to meet fellow theatre-makers
