Council is hosting a Birds in the Backyard webinar in the lead up to the Aussie Bird Count (from 20-26 October 2025).
Have you ever paused to listen to the birds in your backyard or local park? Birds are more than just a pleasant background to our daily lives, they’re important messengers about the health of our environment. Their movements, songs, and even absences can reveal vital information about change in our local environments.
We will broadcast the webinar live on Tuesday 7 October, from 5.45 to 7.30 pm at Alexandra Council Chambers, Kinglake Library and Yea Wetlands Discovery Centre, or you can watch online starting at 6.00 pm.
The session will be led by Dr Gráinne Cleary, well known author and presenter about bird behaviour. Light refreshments will be provided for in-person attendees.
