PROGRAM OVERVIEW -
Join us for a 8-week journey youth program in term 4, that is designed for homeschool students aged 12 years and above to support their emotional and social development through equine-assisted therapy.

What sets this program apart is the opportunity to work with a herd of Brumbies. These wild-born horses, now gentled and living in a natural herd environment, bring a unique sensitivity and depth to equine therapy.

Brumbies are exceptionally attuned to subtle shifts in energy, emotion, and intention, making them profound partners in developing awareness, presence, and authentic connection.

Through experiential activities with the Brumbies, children will:
• Build emotional awareness and regulation
• Increase self-esteem and confidence
• Develop leadership and teamwork skills
• Manage anxiety and stress effectively
• Foster resilience and problem-solving abilities

PROGRAM STRUCTURE (8 Weeks – Term 4)

Each session runs for 3 hours and includes:
• Two equine-based activities (ground-based, non-riding)
• Psycho-education focused on emotional development
• Integration and reflection time through discussion, journaling, or creative expression

# Week 1 – Introduction & Building Safety
Orientation to the property, herd, and safety protocols. Meeting the Brumbies and learning about herd behaviour. Focus: Trust, grounding, and creating group agreements.
# Week 2 – Understanding Emotions

# Week 3 – Managing Anxiety
Breathing, mindfulness, and regulation activities with the herd. Using horses as co-regulators of nervous system states. Focus: Calmness, presence, and resilience.
# Week 4 – Self-Esteem & Confidence
Leading and boundary-setting exercises with the Brumbies. Reflection on personal strengths and identity. Focus: Confidence-building and self-worth.
# Week 5 – Communication & Connection
Group activities requiring teamwork and non-verbal communication. Exploring empathy, listening, and relational dynamics. Focus: Connection with others and healthy communication.
# Week 6 – Leadership in Action
Structured leadership challenges with the herd. Practicing responsibility, influence, and decision-making. Focus: Confidence in leadership and teamwork.
# Week 7 – Problem-Solving & Resilience
Navigating obstacles and challenges with the Brumbies. Group reflection on resilience strategies. Focus: Flexibility, persistence, and creative problem-solving.
