BELLYDANCE PROPTASTIC WORKSHOPS WITH KATIE HOLLAND

About Katie. "Dancing from the age of three and having studied Ballet, Tap, Modern, African, Samba, Bollywood, Sacred Nepalese, Tribal Fusion, Egyptian Bellydance, Yoga, Martial Arts and currently Bharatanatyam, Katie's love of, dedication and commitment to her dance shines through and is evident to all who see. Combining traditional dance techniques with her own unique interpretations - fusing herself to an ancient culture whilst dancing forth into the new. Katie enthuses and inspires this magical energy to all she meets. Katie's unique clothing range will be available at the workshops. The beautiful Katie Holland is also the creator of Awakened Bellydance. This gift is the intuitive synthesis and integration of her life's studies & experiences to date. Shifting focus from the usually expected outer form of belly dance to ‘heart-centred’ intuitive, healing movements. She follows an innate fascination for dance and the profound healing it can give."
* Workshop 1: ‘WINGS OF ISIS’ (2 hours) OPEN LEVEL
Create drama and power in your performances with this spectacular prop! Isis wings always create the WOW factor and in this workshop Katie will teach you how to use them to their full advantage- creating dynamic shapes, travelling and turning with them and much, much more. This prop is not often covered in workshops, so take this opportunity to learn. (There will be a few spare sets of wings to borrow).
* Workshop 2: ‘IS THAT A SINGLE OR A DOUBLE……VEIL??? (2 hours) OPEN LEVEL
Who doesn’t love to dance with a veil- it’s always such a brilliant prop to use and always looks so graceful and beautiful on stage. In this workshop, Katie will help guide you create gorgeous lines with your veil, how to cope with any ‘oops’ moments and share all her tips and tricks. There will also be a segment on using 2 veils at once, double the veil, double the impact! Please bring a veil or 2- preferably made of the same material and roughly the same size too. (Some spares available)

Schedule:
10.30-doors open – chance to have a coffee or tea (included in ticket price) and a catch up
11.30- 1.30 - WORKSHOP 1
1.30- 2.30– Lunch break- buffet lunch provided and included in ticket price. Chance also to browse the bazaar and catch up with belly-dance friends
2.30- 4.30 - WORKSHOP 2
4.30- 6.15- Tea/coffee and biscuit refreshments (available 4.30- 5.00ish) and chance to browse the full bazaar. Chance to sit, relax and get made up and changed whilst the room is transformed ready for Casbah Café
6.30- Doors re-open for evening event CASBAH CAFE
7.15pm First performance (the time may vary depending on the number of acts)
* AMPLE FREE PARKING at the venue and regular buses from Oxford to Kidlington and bus stop nearby. Also Oxford Parkway train station nearby (maps and directions upon request)
