Italian Movie Night at Tropic Cinema: Mid August Lunch on Wednesday June 4th

The Sons and Daughters of Italy Key West Lodge #2436 has teamed up with the Tropic Cinema to present, “Italian Night at the Movies” to support our 2025 scholarship fund for area High School seniors of Italian descent. Occurring once a month through June, next up in the series is “Mid August Lunch" ("Pranzo di Ferragosto") on Wednesday June 4th.

Released in 2008, Gianni is a middle-aged man living in Rome with his imposing and demanding elderly mother. His only outlet from her and the increasing debt into which they are sinking, are the increasingly frequent quiet sessions at the local tavern.

As an Oriental saying goes, 'Moments of crisis are moments of opportunities'. These appear during the celebration of the holiday of Ferragosto on 15 August. That's when everybody leaves town to have fun. Opportunity knocks on Gianni's door in the most unexpected way. If Gianni looks after the building manager's mother during the Ferragosto, all will be forgiven.

This film is in Italian with English subtitles.

Doors open at 5:30; movie starts at 6:15 pm and the evening includes a complimentary taste of Italy. The evening will also include a chance drawing.
