Marilyn Hart Children’s Theatre auditions: Once Upon a Mattress!

Hear ye, hear ye!

Sound the royal trumpets (or just hit snooze on your phone)—Marilyn Hart Children’s Theatre auditions are almost here!

Directed by the queen herself—Chantel Hawkins, (year 16 and always everyone’s favorite 👸🏼) Once Upon a Mattress is the hilariously twisted fairy tale with a loud swamp princess, a mama’s boy prince, and a queen who’s got major control issues.

It’s bold, bonkers, and totally our vibe.

WHO: Students finishing 4th–7th grade

WHEN: Friday, May 9 @ 6:00 PM & Saturday, May 10 @ 10:00 AM

WHERE: GRP’s Kantamneni Building, 17 South 6th St., Keokuk, IA

Wanna shoot your shot with a solo? Bring a one-minute song (YouTube karaoke is a popular choice), we’ll cue it up on our Bluetooth speaker, and totally hype you up.

Cost: $0. Zilch. Nada. Since 1996 it’s been 100% FREE to audition and participate in our youth summer theatre program, thanks to our awesome donors!

REHEARSALS: Starting sooner than you think! Bring all your summer schedule conflicts through the show dates!

PERFORMANCES: June 27th & 28th, 2025 at the historic Grand Theatre in Keokuk, IA
