With slide guitars, boot clacks, jangly acoustics, and a pitter-patter snare, Cowboy Songs, the latest from this Pacific Northwest band, feels elemental.
Their music pulses with a warm, contagious energy—made for dancing on your heels and leading with your hips. Santa Poco is a roadhouse jukebox come to life, perfect for late-night drives or last calls. The 11-track album, recorded in rustic cabins in Leavenworth and Roslyn, WA, was mixed by Kevin Redlich and mastered by Ed Brooks.
Each track is a shot of smooth sarsaparilla or top-shelf whiskey—especially the anthemic “Something About The Whiskey.” The opener sets the tone with a grin and a tip of the hat. From the galloping rhythm of “Shoot Out The Lights” to the soul-searching “Find Yourself A Woman” and “Never Looked Better,” the album blends tradition with tasteful instrumentation—keys, harmonica, violin, and more.
While Nashville may be the heart of country, Cowboy Songs proves the soul of it stretches all the way to the Pacific Northwest—where Santa Poco rides tall.
