Kent Brain Day 5K 2025

In celebration of World Brain Day 2025, which is July 22nd, we are hosting our 5th annual Brain Day 5K on Saturday, July 26th, in Kent, OH. Participants may choose to join us for an informal run/walk or use any 5K or one mile route anywhere they wish! The Brain Day 5K is open to all on and off-campus supporters. Strollers, scooters, and leashed dogs are welcome to participate in the one mile walk only.

If attending in person, we will begin the one-mile walk/run at 9 am on Kent State University's campus in front of Cunningham Hall on the Esplanade and end in the same location. We'll begin the 5k walk/run at 10 am in front of Cunnighman Hall.

This year's theme is Brain Health for All Ages, and proceeds benefit the KSU Biology Graduate Student Council's Award Fund and the National Alliance on Mental Illness of Greater Cleveland. The NAMI of Greater Cleveland is a local affiliate of NAMI that provides support to those with serious mental illness in northeast Ohio. Their support includes, but is not limited to, support groups, education programs, patient referrals, and advocacy.

Local t-shirt pick will take place in front of Cunningham Hall on Kent State's campus in early July (TBA) and on Saturday, July 26th, before the event (8:30 – 10:00 am). T-shirts shipped should arrive to the address you listed during sign-up the week of the event. Last to day to order t-shirts is June 30th.

Participation in the 5K is not mandatory, so feel free to purchase a t-shirt to support the NAMI and BGSC! For this year the 5K route has been modified to avoid the hillier portions of campus, so pervious participants please take a look at the new routes below. As all ways all routes will be chalked and sigange will be placed as needed.
