Fountain Safari Author Event and Book Signing

Join us in our stunning new event space, The Fountain Room, for a special morning with acclaimed landscape architect and water designer James Garland as he shares from his expansive new book, Fountain Safari.

Garland is the founder and president of Fluidity Design, the studio responsible for the revitalization and enhancement of the Main Fountain Garden in 2017.

In Fountain Safari, Garland exhaustively explores the work of art that is the fountain—a vibrant symbol of life and physical embodiment of beauty that we use to mark and celebrate our favored places. Through an exploration of esteemed examples from around the globe, including Longwood, a sketch is roughed out of the evolution of fountains over some two millennia and across several cultures. Ultimately, Garland attempts to deepen the understanding and appreciation of water features by identifying and clarifying their most essential aesthetic qualities.

Enjoy this inspiring talk while looking out at gorgeous views of our Main Fountain Garden from The Fountain Room.

This lecture will be followed by a book signing and opportunity to meet the author. Fountain Safari is available for purchase before this event on The Garden Shop online; limited quantities may be available in-store.
