Meet the Artists:
Mark Andrews is a Coventry-born and based illustrator & cartoonist, with a wide range of creative interests. During the first Covid lockdown he got into origami and paper crafts, which led to him hosting origami workshops around the city for the likes of Coventry University, The Coventry Peace Orchard, The Twin Cities Project, & Healthwatch Coventry. He was an artist-in-residence at Central Hall during the city’s Year of Culture. In his spare time he enjoys playing guitar, solving cryptic crosswords, and gaming.
Ellie Rose is a multidisciplinary artist working across mixed media, murals, community projects, and land art photography. She empowers others to find their artistic voice and celebrates the connection between the inner self and nature. Since 2010, she has exhibited widely and now facilitates group shows under ‘Drawn to Paint.’ Ellie has created murals in Kosovo, India, and the UK. Her current focus is Land Art Photography, using natural materials to craft and capture ephemeral beauty. She teaches with Warwickshire County Council and runs private workshops in portrait painting, cyanotype printing, and gelli plate techniques.
Last Mafuba is amental health advocate, CEO of Inini Initiative, and is currently a PhD researcher focusing on mental health in Black communities, holding degrees in Psychology and Human Rights from Warwick University. With over 20 years of experience serving marginalized groups, she founded Inini Initiative to provide culturally sensitive mental health services to people of color. Inini is a creative organisation dedicated to using art for social impact, empowerment, and community engagement. Championing inclusivity, they provide a platform for diverse voices, with a strong focus on supporting ethnic minorities. Through visual storytelling, workshops, and participatory projects, Inini fosters cultural expression and social change. Their work spans public art, education, and community initiatives, creating meaningful artistic experiences that celebrate diversity and connect people through creativity.
Emily Tyler is a digital artist & photographer. Her artwork looks at extremes. This can be light & dark, man-made vs nature or as simple as extreme colour. Art can be a simple expression of the world that she sees, or as a mood enhancement. She did a large window installation in central Coventry during the City of Culture 2021, as well as a large painting residency mapping the popularity of performances through people’s snapshots. Recent work has included pieces inspired by her travels in Japan and a big project in the summer in Birmingham.
