Come learn to play Daggerheart! Daggerheart is a collaborative fantasy tabletop roleplaying game, or TTRP, of incredible magic and heroic adventure.
I will be gamemastering a learning session of the Sablewood Messengers, a short adventure intended for three to five first time players. Players will be using the pre-made characters that come with the adventure. Players should bring a pencil and set of polyhedral dice (if you have a set). If you do not have any dice, I have a few sets that can be shared. The game’s rulebook is not necessary. Handouts will have the core rules for the player’s reference. All experience levels welcome. The game will be held in a room at the Kendallville Public Library on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 9:30 am, with expected end around 12:30 pm. Feel free to bring a drink and snack.
The Sablewood Messengers:
“Marlowe Fairwind, the right-hand sorcerer of King Emeris, has gathered her most trusted allies to carry an important package to Hush, a small village within the ancient forest of Sablewood. The crate is large, heavy and sealed with magic, addressed to the Whitefire Arcanist. You’ve been given a map and a carriage, and the promise of reward upon your arrival.”

In Daggerheart, you and your fellow players all take turns describing what your characters do. The GM determines the consequences of those actions, then guides the group into collaboratively evolving the narrative because of those consequences. When the rules call for it, or when a situation demands, you’ll roll the dice to inform what happens next. Depending on the result of the roll, the events of the ongoing story will unfold in new and unexpected ways. Daggerheart is a heroic, narrative-focused experience that features combat as a prominent aspect of play.
There is no winning or losing in Daggerheart in the traditional “gaming” sense. The game is a collaborative storytelling experience, where the goal is to play out an incredible story together.
Daggerheart is a game for players of all races, ethnicities, genders, faiths, sexualities, and identities. It is the responsibility of each player in the game to ensure that the table you share is a place where everyone is empowered, respected, and safe.
