The September 15, 2025, speaker meeting of the Silver Spring Garden Club features a talk entitled, "Just Cannot Let Go of Summer: Cuttings."
Though killing frost is a ways away, lets look at how you can bring some of that floral abundance indoors. Join Carol Allen as she presents how cuttings work and how you can hold some of those expensive annuals over until next year. She will also talk about root cuttings and hardwood cuttings; their timing and technique. Members are urged to bring in some of their overgrown coleus and impatiens to share. There will be opportunities to take home a cutting bouquet. It will be helpful to bring in plastic bags and paper towels for transporting the bouquets.
Speaker: Carol Allen has been involved in many aspects of gardening and horticulture since childhood and likes to describe herself as a committable plant-a-holic. She has over 30 years’ experience in the horticulture industry with special interests in Integrated Pest Management and tropical plants of many kinds, especially orchids.
