About the event

Nebraska Grazing Conference
Karney, Neb. — Ranchers, conservationists and grassland professionals from across the state will gather in Kearney on Aug. 5 for the 2025 Nebraska Grazing Conference, a full-day event focused on rangeland resilience, business strategies, and partnerships that support working lands.

Hosted at the Younes Conference Center South, the annual event will include a dynamic lineup of speakers, panels, and networking opportunities. Highlights include a keynote address and workshop sessions by Dallas Mount, CEO of Ranching for Profit and a nationally recognized expert in farm and ranch business leadership.

Mount will lead sessions on economic and financial decision-making and close the evening with a keynote titled “Raising the Bar — Ranching for Profit.”

“This conference brings together producers, researchers and organizations who are passionate about sustaining Nebraska’s grasslands through both ecological stewardship and economic viability,” said Jerry Volesky, a rangeland specialist with Nebraska Extension and co-organizer of the event.

Conference sessions will begin at 1 p.m., following an optional morning field tour and lunch. Speakers include Laura Nelson of the Nebraska Grazing Lands Coalition, who will provide updates on the Nebraska Grassland Alliance and the 2026 International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralism. Attendees will also hear from Malvern “Cork” and Janet Worth of Springview, recipients of the 2024 Nebraska Leopold Conservation Award.

Panel discussions will feature producers and partners from across Nebraska, including representatives from the Sandhills Task Force, Nebraska Grazing Lands Coalition, and WWF’s Sustainable Ranching Initiative.

The event concludes with a banquet dinner and social hour showcasing exhibitor displays.

Registration is now open and available online at grassland.unl.edu/nebraska-grazing-conference-registration. The cost includes lunch and dinner.
