✨ Art and astronomy collide in "Pottery Under the Stars" at The Arvin Gottlieb Planetarium. ✨ Saturday, August 30. Featuring local ceramic artist Caroline Meek.
Join us for an unforgettable night of pottery-making beneath the stars.
Pottery Under the Stars is a unique meditative, hands-on experience that combines a make-and-take pottery creation with a special star tour exploring constellations that have inspired artists for thousands of years.
The experience takes place in the comfort of Union Station's Arvin Gottlieb Planetarium, exploring the virtual stars beneath its massive 4K domed screen. No pottery experience is needed. The event is suitable for ages 5+
During this special tour of the season's night sky, we'll explore how people across time and space have immortalized their stories of the stars in clay; from an ancient cuneiform tablet that solved a centuries-old mystery to a contemporary artist facing the darkness of the universe through her work. As we go, participants will form their clay pots almost entirely in the dark, encouraging a deeper awareness of the sense of touch.
Participants will be able to take their creations home at the end of the event to air-dry and paint if desired.
Saturday, August 30, 6:30pm-7:30pm.
Tickets are $20.00 each - Union Station Members $14
