Welcome to Ecstatic Dance Kansas City! Ecstatic Dance is a beautiful freeform dance movement that started in Hawaii in 2000 and is now global. If you are new ~ please read through the universal guidelines below as they create the container for such a powerful experience.
BEYOND honored and excited to have Lazuli weaving our Ecstatic set for this evening! Lazuli is an incredibly talented DJ. She plays with vibey, ethereal, low-end heavy tracks that include eastern instrumentality and melodies, frequencies that tug at your shadows, and danceable beats that will get you into your body and out of your mind. CAN'T WAIT.

History of Ecstatic Dance:
Ecstatic Dance (with it's roots in 5 rhythms) was birthed in Hawaii in the year 2000, and is now a world-wide movement found in almost every major city. It combines the freedom of a festival experience with the awareness of a conscious dance practice. The Ecstatic Dance guidelines (listed above) are Universal guidelines. Although each Ecstatic Dance around the globe is unique, these guidelines connect the web of all Ecstatic Dances together as one.
Our Schedule Flow:
1) We open up with a movement practice, like yoga, to wake up & warm our bodies before dancing.
2) Our 2 hour Ecstatic Dance journey is fascilitated by a professional DJ. Although each DJ offers their own unique style, all Ecstatic Dance sets are crafted to flow like a WAVE, beginning very slowly (ambient) to warm up, and slowly increasing in speed and intensity as the set continues, eventully coming to a to a high point or PEAK before gradually coming back down again to a very soft meditative ambiance at the end.
3) We close with a Sound Healing. This is sometimes a musical performance, a song, a singing bowls sound bath, a guided meditation, or a breathwork session.
Ecstatic Dance is a sacred and safe space for you to be your unique authentic self in an open, loving, judgement-free container that celebrates you for being you.
Thank you with all my heart for your continued support. Ecstatic Dance KC just turned 9 years old! This community started out as a little seed that has been consistently tended to, watered and nourished by all of us as this is a co-creation. Our dance family keeps growing, evolving and thriving. It brings tears of joy to my eyes and keeps me constantly in awe of the magic we have all manifested together.
When Ecstatic Dance first found me back in 2008, I had this instant feeling of coming home when I walked into Sweets ballroom in Oakland California. The fire was ignited within me and has burned bright ever since bringing blessing after blessing. The gifts of this practice and community have been onging and profound. It is my absolute joy and pleasure to share this magic as it has changed my life in truly countless positive ways (and still does!) THANK YOU with all my heart for being a part of this.
This is my welcome home to you. Home to your global Ecstatic Dance family, and home to yourself. See you on the dance floor!
