After a dozen solo show presentations, the Timothy Mooney Repertory Theatre is bringing their very first multi-actor show “Breakneck Midsummer Night’s Dream,” to the KC Fringe Festival!
Tim notes, “Having gotten to know some terrific actors (many from Kansas City) over almost 100 festivals, I hunted down some favorite “Rock Star” Fringers, ALL of whom are, themselves, capable of handling their OWN one-person events! I was thrilled to find so much incredible talent to join me, including Michael Shaffer, Beth Bird-Lonski, Shawn Murphy and Maggie Killian, while talking Sara “Schmoo” Cutlip into joining us from Chicago!”
This “Midsummer” has already played (with slightly different casts) to audiences at the Minnesota and the Orlando Fringe Festivals. The Orlando Sentinel named it “Highly Recommended” and among the “Best of the Best” in 2024, calling it “a chirpy, whimsical delight that succeeds in making Shakespeare accessible to all.” Meanwhile, Jill Shafer of Minnesota’s “Cherry and Spoon” blog, also named it among her “Fringe Favorites,” saying “Shakespeare should always be 60 minutes long,” calling it a “really fun and faithful adaptation of the Bard’s most popular comedy.”
“Breakneck Midsummer Night’s Dream” will play for five performances only at the City Stage at Union Station, opening Saturday, July 19 at 7:30 pm, followed by four performances: Sunday, July 20, 4:30 pm, Thursday, July 24 at 6 pm, Friday, July 25 at 7:30 pm and Saturday, July 26 at 9 pm. Tickets are $15, with one-time ($6) Fringe button purchase (good for the whole festival) and are available on-line at KCFringe.org and at the door.
