Event description:
In this course students will learn all of the crucial steps involved in a digital-to-physical workflow involving the studio's Laser Cutters—valuable skills which can be transferred to most other CNC Machines.
Students will learn how to use a vector program like Adobe Illustrator to send files to a laser cutter to make key chains, earrings, or other small accessories out of wood and acrylic using both Vector cutting and Raster engraving techniques. They will also learn how machines like laser cutters work, including both physical operation and digital file setup.

About the Instructor:
Garrett Dockins an Artist and Designer with 7+ years of experience with digital fabrication processes, including 3D Modeling with Rhino 7/8, graphic design in Adobe Illustrator, as well as digital fabrication programs like Preform, Cura, and Aspire. She is passionate about teaching others, and has taught the Beals Studios Sunday Workshop Series for over two years. As the Beals Studios Technician, she has in-depth knowledge of all Beals Studios machines, and is the one responsible for making sure they all remain in tip-top shape. Garrett is also an avid video game developer and spider enthusiast.
Supplies: The instructor will contact registered students directly regarding materials and supplies.
Parking: Parking is available in any of the (NON-RESERVED) KCAI parking lot spaces across campus. There is also available street parking surrounding KCAI campus.
Refund: Registered participants can receive refunds to the original payment method (Studio Fee minus Humanitix Fee) up to 14 days before the first class.
