For our monthly evenining dance in April, we welcome back, the one and only DJ Coughman! Coughman has been in the music scene for years and has such an incredilbe ear for weaving together sets that are deeply grounded and rooted with tons of suprising twists and turns. When it's Coughman weaving a set, you know it's gonna be quite the 2 hour dance journey!

~ Please come showered and clean! (We like to smell nice for each other! Also, please be mindful of wearing strong perfumes or colognes as some are very sensitive to these overpowering scents. Clean & natural is best!)

Quick History of Ecstatic Dance:
Ecstatic Dance (with it's roots in 5 rhythms) was birthed in Hawaii in the year 2000, and is now a world-wide movement found in almost every major city. It combines the freedom of a festival experience with the awareness of a conscious dance practice. The Ecstatic Dance guidelines (listed above) are Universal guidelines. Although each Ecstatic Dance around the globe is unique, these guidelines connect the web of all Ecstatic Dances together as one.
Our Schedule Flow:
1) We open up with a movement practice, like yoga, to wake up & warm our bodies before dancing.
2) Our 2 hour Ecstatic Dance journey is fascilitated by a professional DJ who has created a special set just for us. Although each DJ offers their own unique style, all Ecstatic Dance sets are crafted to flow like a WAVE, beginning very slowly (ambient) to warm up, and slowly increasing in speed and intensity as the set continues, eventully coming to a to a high point or PEAK before gradually coming back down again to a very soft meditative ambiance at the end.
3) We close with a Sound Healing. This is sometimes a musical performance, a song, a singing bowls sound bath, a guided meditation, or a breathwork session.
Ecstatic Dance is a sacred and safe space for you to be your unique authentic self in an open, loving, judgement-free container that celebrates you for being you.

When Ecstatic Dance first found me back in 2008 (yes, I believe it found me when the time was right) ~ I had this instant feeling of coming home when I walked into Sweets ballroom in Oakland California. The fire was ignited within me and has burned bright ever since bringing blessing after blessing. The gifts of this practice and community have been onging and profound. It is my absolute joy and pleasure to share this magic as it has changed my life in truly countless positive ways (and still does!) THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for being a part of this!
