Important Times:
Registration: From 6.15 am
Race Start: 7 am
The road is cleared and this iconic road race is back! Also with a relay option! Runners start at the gate 1km from the base of Lake Morris Road and wind their way uphill through shady tropical rainforest to the finish finish line at 15km at the picnic area overlooking scenic Lake Morris which is held back by the Copperlode Dam in the mountains behind Cairns.
Relay runners will changeover at the water spot of Waddlebla (after about 7km).
Enjoy a sweet treat after the race (yes it will be a CUPcake).
Logistics:
1. Park at the bottom of Lake Morris Rd and walk to the gate (about 1k, allow 15mins)
2. Gate will be open to allow anyone family or friends to drive up to the finish line before the runners start.
3. Relay runners will change about 7k up the hill at Waddlebla track
4. Sign in from 6.15am for 7am start
5. Water at the relay change over point and cup cakes and fruit at the finish
6. Car pooling will get runners back down if required
This is a one-way event finishing at Copperlode Dam. There is no organised return transport (bus etc.) but don't worry - everyone will get down! There will be spots to ride in a spectator or volunteer's vehicle. Other options - join others to run back down to the bottom (15k), or take the trail down to Crystal Cascades and get a pickup from there (~3k).
