Echoes of the Homesick Heart - ON SCREEN

Join us for a special screening of "Echoes of the Homesick Heart" by Laura Michel, a powerful verbatim theatre project exploring a Secwépemc family’s multi-generational journey through language, culture, and community - guided by the spirit of Sek̓lép (coyote). Based on over 40 community interviews, on-screen 2022 production brings real voices and stories to the stage.

The event includes a panel discussion with theatre and language artists Lori Marchand, Eric Coates, Merewyn Comeau, Jeremy Kneeshaw, and Janice E. Billy.
Plus check out a beautiful lobby display from Shay Paul and the Indigenous Resurgence Project.
A sister event will be held at the Kamloops Art Gallery on June 21.

All proceeds support the Echoes of the Homesick Heart Bursary, helping emerging Secwépemc scholars reclaim and sustain their language.
