A Bayanihan Christmas - Aggie Cabebe Scholarship Fundraiser
Agrifina “Aggie” Cabebe (1928-2020) was a remarkable trailblazer in Maui’s Filipino community. She was known as the “Mother of Filipino Folk Dance on Maui” and “The General” and she served in many capacities, including the first president of Binhi at Ani in 1985. Maui will always be indebted to her for her pioneer efforts in promoting the Bayanihan Spirit and preserving the Filipino culture.
To sustain her memory for generations, the Cabebe family and Binhi at Ani created the AGRIFINA CABEBE/BINHI AT ANI SCHOLARSHIP, funded in part by donations and an annual event in her honor. To date, eight scholars have received a total of $16,000.00.
The 2025 “Promoting the Bayanihan Spirit” honoree is Hedy Udarbe, who volunteers not only for Binhi at Ani but also her church, senior citizens and other organizations. Udarbe’s continuous volunteer leadership helps to sustain and improve Maui’s Filipino community.
We hope you will assist by attending and/or making a donation. Seats for the December 21, 2025 event (doors open at 5:00pm) are limited. For more information, please contact Alfredo Evangelista at 808.294.5510 or
