Ethos on keväällä 2024 perustettu nyky folk-rock -yhtye, johon kuuluvat säveltäjä ja kitaristi Bob Boulter, lyömäsoittaja Harri Kuikka, pianisti Marjaana Wuolio, laulajat Nisha Mammen ja Merja Vuorinen sekä multi-instrumentalisti Päivi Perttilä (kellot, huilu, nokkahuilu, ukulele).
Britanniasta kotoisin oleva Boulter on asunut Suomessa vuodesta 1973 lähtien ja on säveltänyt kohottavia kansanballadeja, jotka juhlivat elämää. Hänen aikaisempia teoksiaan ovat Elohiiri (2016, CD Avara) ja Silta (2023, CD Unity). Ethoses yhdistää suomalaisia ja kansainvälisiä vaikutteita, ja intialainen solisti Nisha Mammen lisää ainutlaatuisen lauluvaikutelman.
Yhtye debytoi joulukonsertilla Jyväskylän Pelimannitalossa (13.11.24) esittäen iloisia, rytmiä joulun sanomaa kantavia kappaleita. Rikkaiden harmonioiden ja monipuolisen instrumentoinnin avulla jokainen jäsen osallistuu lauluun luoden mukaansatempaavan ja sydämellisen musiikkikokemuksen.
Ethoses is a contemporary folk-rock band that blends poetic storytelling, intricate melodies, and heartfelt harmonies. Their music explores themes of love, nature, self-discovery, and resilience, creating an evocative and immersive listening experience.
Ethoses’ lyrics often capture moments of deep emotion and human connection. “A Day in the Summer” paints a picture of a warm carefree day, with romance unfolding in nature, while “Easy Chair” offers the warmth of unwavering support. “Angel from Heaven” envisions an ethereal presence, symbolizing love’s gentle yet profound impact.
Many songs draw inspiration from the natural world, using it as a metaphor for feelings and experiences. “By Your Spindle” and “Who Can Tell” explore life’s uncertainties through imagery of waves, valleys, and flowing water. “Elements” describes a restless longing that mirrors the shifting elements of nature, while “I’m Burning” captures passion and transformation, aligning the inner self with the vastness of the world.
Ethoses’ music also speaks to overcoming struggles and embracing change. “I've Overcome the Heat” is a song of triumph, recognizing the ability to grow despite challenges. “Blue Cherie” is a gentle reminder to stay courageous, encouraging listeners to embrace life’s vast possibilities.
With a rich blend of folk ballads, rock-infused melodies, and deeply introspective lyrics, Ethos crafts music that resonates with the soul, offering listeners a journey through emotion, nature, and human connection.
