On Thursday, 21 August 2025, Joensuu Botania’s indoor terrace will host a rare English-language event featuring former NASA astronaut and author Dr. Charles J. Camarda. The one-hour session will include a 30-minute introduction about him and his book Mission Out of Control, followed by a 30-minute book signing.
Dr. Charles Camarda flew aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery in 2005 as part of mission STS-114. Over his career, he has worked as an engineer, innovator, and educator at NASA, and is recognised for his strong advocacy of creative problem-solving and multidisciplinary teamwork. Camarda has contributed to the development of key space technologies and has inspired audiences around the world through his teaching and public speaking.
