Push-in ceremonies are a time-honored fire service tradition that dates back to the 1800s, when firefighters had to manually push their horse-drawn fire engines back into the station after returning from a call. This act of teamwork became a symbolic gesture of pride, unity, and readiness — and today, it remains a cherished ritual when a department welcomes a new apparatus into service.
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜𝘀 𝗔 𝗤𝘂𝗶𝗻𝘁?
A “quint” is a multi-functional fire apparatus that serves five key purposes — it carries a pump, water tank, fire hose, aerial ladder, and ground ladders. In other words, it combines the capabilities of both an engine and a ladder truck into one piece of equipment.
𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗜𝘀 𝗔 𝗤𝘂𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁?
Quint 512 will enhance our firefighters’ ability to protect lives and property across the community. Its versatility allows our crews to respond more efficiently to a wide range of emergencies — from structure fires to rescues — strengthening public safety for everyone in Denton County ESD 1’s service area.
We hope you’ll join us as we honor tradition, celebrate progress, and officially welcome Quint 512 into service. The event will include brief remarks, the ceremonial push-in, and an opportunity to meet your local firefighters and see the new apparatus up close.
