Colorado-based singer-songwriter Michael Kirkpatrick returns to Juneau for his third appearance at The Crystal Saloon — Michael has been touring Alaska for over a decade, and the state’s wild beauty, rugged spirit, and deep connection to nature have left a lasting mark on his songwriting. Themes of wilderness, wonder, and resilience echo throughout his lyrics, shaped in part by the many miles, stories, and stages he's shared across the Last Frontier.
Known for his lush songscapes and paradoxical mix of sunshine and fog, Michael’s music is rooted in the festival culture that shaped him. With over 30 years of experience and a deep love for mandolin and guitar, he has carved a singular presence in the Colorado music scene, where he's equally at home in intimate solo sets and full-band psychedelic Americana.
Michael’s rich baritone voice — described as everything from a quiet rumble to a mountain-top exclamation — brings to life songs of dreams, sensuality, and a deep reverence for nature. Winner of the prestigious Telluride Troubadour award, his absurdly earnest stage presence, eclectic picking, and heartfelt lyricism make each performance a vivid and emotional journey.
His latest solo album, Away-O (2024), featuring the artwork of Alaska artist Scott Clendaniel, was recorded live in a snow-covered house on Colorado’s Front Range. Away-O captures the raw intimacy of his house concerts and “funstreams” that became a lifeline for fans during the Ronassance.
Whether he's channeling mythic emotion or doing unspeakable things to a mandolin, Michael Kirkpatrick remains an unforgettable force on stage. Don’t miss Michael’s solo set at The Crystal Saloon.
