Explore theatrical masks with creative play and improvisation! Join us for a month-long workshop led by Roblin Davis during the month of October 2025. This workshop will be hosted on Tuesdays and Thursdays, October 7-30, from 6-8pm at the Juneau Arts & Culture Center. The cost to register is $75-85 for the whole workshop.
Using a variety of mask styles, we will study expressive movement, gesture, and the poetic body. In mask theater, we attempt to enter a state of openness: a forward moving, physically engaged curiosity with the world around us. The mask is a tool where breath, play, timing and the imaginative state lead us to collaborative creativity. This workshop will help you develop strong character choices, challenge you to gain greater physical expressiveness, and find new links between your mind’s imagination and your body’s intelligence.
Whether you are an actor, a storyteller, a dancer, a writer, or performance artist interested in pushing your creative frontier, this workshop will challenge you to find richer dynamics, increased sensitivity and greater expression in your work.
