Introduction of a design project plateau state youth and security summit 2025
Project Theme:
Building Bridges, Securing Futures: Plateau State Youth and Security Summit"
Organized By: National youth builders of Nigeria NYBN
INTRODUCTORY SECTION: IGNITING COLLABORATIVE ACTION FOR PLATEAU'S YOUTH
Plateau State:A land blessed with rich cultural heritage, breathtaking landscapes, and immense human potential. Our youth represent the vibrant engine of this potential the innovators, the peacebuilders, the future leaders, and the cornerstone of sustainable development. Yet, significant challenges threaten to stifle this promise. Rising youth unemployment, economic exclusion, and the resulting vulnerability have created fertile ground for insecurity, social unrest, and a pervasive sense of disillusionment among our young population. These intertwined crises unemployment and insecurity demand urgent, collective, and innovative solutions.
The Imperative for the Summit:
The National Youth Builders of Nigeria (NYBN) recognizes that the future stability, prosperity, and security of Plateau State are inextricably linked to the empowerment and engagement of its youth. Traditional siloed approaches have proven insufficient. We believe that sustainable solutions can only emerge from a platform of genuine dialogue, shared responsibility, and collaborative action involving all critical stakeholders.
Why This Summit Now?
1. The Unemployment Security Nexus: Idleness and lack of opportunity are potent drivers of youth restiveness, crime, and susceptibility to manipulation by agents of violence and conflict. Tackling unemployment is not merely an economic imperative; it is a fundamental security strategy for Plateau State.
2. The Power of Collective Wisdom: No single entity holds all the answers. Government agencies possess policy levers, religious institutions command moral authority and community reach, political groups influence agendas, security agencies manage threats, the private sector creates jobs, and youth organizations understand the lived realities of young people. Bringing these diverse voices together is essential.
3. Democratizing Solutions: Top down approaches often fail to resonate. This summit is designed to center the voices of Plateau's youth, ensuring their perspectives, aspirations, and proposed solutions are heard directly by decision-makers and influencers.
4. Fostering Trust and Collaboration: Distrust and fragmented efforts hinder progress. This roundtable aims to build bridges of understanding, foster trust between stakeholders (especially between youth and institutions), and create a shared roadmap for action.
5. Creating an Enabling Ecosystem: Beyond immediate job creation, we need systemic change. This includes improving the business environment for youth entrepreneurship, access to relevant education and skills training, mentorship, infrastructure, and policies that actively support youth participation in the economy and governance.
The Vision of the National Youth Builders of Nigeria (NYBN):
NYBN, as a youth-led and youth-focused organization, is committed to being a catalyst for positive change. We conceived this summit not as a talking shop, but as a springboard for concrete action. Our vision is to facilitate a unique convergence:
A Roundtable of Equals: Where policymakers sit alongside youth leaders, religious figures engage with political representatives, security chiefs listen to community organizers, and the private sector dialogues with educators.
*A Focus on Practical Mechanisms: Moving beyond identifying problems to co-creating actionable, context-specific, and measurable strategies to tackle youth unemployment and its security implications.
* A Blueprint for an Enabling Environment: Defining the tangible steps needed in policy, investment, education, mentorship, and community support to unlock the potential of every young person across Plateau State's diverse communities.
The Urgent Call:
The status quo is unsustainable. The energy, creativity, and aspirations of Plateau's youth are our greatest asset. Left untapped and frustrated, they become a risk. This summit represents a critical opportunity to collectively harness this energy for peace, productivity, and prosperity.
Together, let us move from dialogue to decisive action. Let us build bridges across divides and secure a future where every young person in Plateau State has the opportunity, safety, and support to thrive and contribute meaningfully to our beloved state.
The time for collaboration is now. Welcome to the Plateau State Youth and Security Summit.
