Beginner Beekeeping Course

Five-week, in-person beginner beekeeping course built around what actually matters in your first year. This year the class requires paid registration, which includes your 2026 JABA membership dues and the beginner book we recommend new beekeepers read.

Designed for those planning to start beekeeping in 2026 or first-year beekeepers who want structure, confidence, and fewer avoidable mistakes. You will learn how a colony functions, what equipment actually matters, how to inspect a hive and understand what you are seeing, feeding basics, swarm behavior, queen issues, and the most common first-year problems. Advanced topics are intentionally left out to keep the course practical and approachable.

Class size is limited and spots are filled on a first-come basis. Registration is required to reserve a seat.
