Sips + STEM: Shibori Dyeing Workshop for Adults

Come join us in our Sips & STEM Adults-Only Workshop featuring the art and science of Shibori dyeing! Guests will explore the history and chemistry behind this traditional Japanese resist dyeing technique and learn how fabric folding, binding, and dye oxidation create beautiful, one-of-a-kind patterns.

This workshop will be led by our Science Mill educators. Participants will enjoy a hands-on experience as they fold and dye their own fabric piece using indigo dye. While in the workshop, guests will enjoy a glass of wine as they learn and create. By the end of this one and a half hour workshop, guests will leave with a deeper understanding of Shibori techniques, the science behind indigo dye, and a unique piece of dyed fabric to take home.

The workshop fee is $30. This includes:

🔹Light refreshments, including wine and snacks

Museum admission is NOT included in this after-hours workshop. The museum floor closes at 4:00pm.
