Third Sunday of Advent – Candle of Joy
Join us this Sunday, December 14, for the Third Sunday of Advent at Faith Lutheran Church, Johns Island, SC.
A note of joyful expectation marks this week’s worship as we light the pink Candle of Joy and hear God’s promise that the wilderness will rejoice, the desert will blossom, and sorrow and sighing will flee away.
Our readings from Isaiah 35, Psalm 146 (or Mary’s Magnificat), James 5, and Matthew 11 point us to Jesus’ saving work: the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the poor have good news brought to them. Even as we wait for the Lord’s coming, we rejoice that Christ is already present among us in word, Holy Communion, and acts of justice and love.
