Ladies and Gentlemen, the Friends of Speer is having a one of a kind Mother’s Day event. Not only will it be a Garden Soirée & Market, it will be a day of fun, talent, entertainment and history!
We have vendors selling beautiful and unique items you can get for Mom, Nana, Auntie or for yourself. Bring the children and give them an opportunity to make a gift for that special lady. The kids can also enjoy face painting and lawn games at no cost! Our stage will be ready with a throne and balloons for your free Mother’s Day photo op. Next, get a gourmet picnic lunch and relax at a table or grab one of our blankets while you enjoy the gardenesque grounds of Speer Cemetery. Make sure you have a good seat for our “Ode to Mom” show. This exceptional program starts at 1pm and features student musicians from Tonal Art Music Center, poets Crystal Davis and Millicent “Millie” Ansah reading their original works on mothers and motherhood. For our finale, the famous Kennedy Dancers.
At some point throughout this awesome day, make sure you get yourself a raffle ticket for a chance to win one or all three of our prizes! Either a lunch or dinner at Fire & Oak Resteraunt in downtown Jersey City, a pampering wash and set from World of Beauty Center in Journal Square or a charming ladies garden basket which includes everything one would need to grow a garden including seeds!
I know it all sounds too good to be true since there’s no entrance fee but it’s true! So pinch yourself, add this event to your calendar and show up Saturday, May 10th @ 11 AM to prove it!
