Przez miasto przepływa rzeka Bóbr, okoliczne obszary leśne należą do Borów Dolnośląskich. W latach 1975–1998 miasto należało administracyjnie do województwa jeleniogórskiego.
Będzie trochę o Bolesławcu, bo miasto mnie urzekło, szczególnie nocą.
