Wild Color: Indigo & Foraged Dye Immersion with Kristin Arzt

Join us for a full day of creative exploration with natural dyes in the stunning setting of Fox Haven Farm. Led by Kristin Arzt, this immersive workshop will introduce you to the world of indigo dyeing, eco-printing, and bundle dyeing, all while deepening your connection to the land through foraging and plant walks.

Through hands-on practice, you’ll learn how to harness the colors found in nature, working with locally foraged plants to create a foraged dye pot. This experience is designed to cultivate a deeper relationship with the landscape, encouraging mindfulness and appreciation for the natural materials that surround us.

What to bring

All workshop materials are included, we’ll include two bandanas as a part of the dye workshop, we highly encourage you to bring your own natural fiber items to dye.

Bring your own lunch, plus a blanket, towel & camping chair (an optional post-lunch creek dip is a possibility!)

This workshop is a chance to slow down, experiment with natural colors, and take home a deeper understanding of the dyeing process—along with beautifully hand-dyed textiles. Whether you’re new to natural dyes or looking to expand your practice, you’ll leave feeling inspired by the vibrant possibilities nature has to offer.

Meet Your Teacher

Kristin Arzt is a natural dyer, educator, gardener, and designer who teaches workshops and leads retreats across the country. She has served on the board of Local Cloth and has been actively involved in Fibersheds from Northern California to the Mid-Atlantic and the Blue Ridge Mountains. By exploring the intersection of textiles, plants, and sustainability, her goal is to make the study of natural dyes accessible to everyone through education and enthusiasm.

When not teaching in-person and online courses, she grows her own seasonal dye plants for closer experimentation—often sharing seeds and sprouts with her students to encourage further exploration.
