The Lake Mills/Aztalan Historical Society, Inc. will host its 58th annual Aztalan Day Sunday, July 20, 2025, at the museum site, from 12 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Located at the corner of CTH B and CTH Q, two miles east of downtown Lake Mills (N6284 CTH Q, Jefferson), the event will be educational and fun for all ages.
Attendees can experience historic craft/trade demonstrations including a blacksmith and flint knappers, historic craft vendors, as well as educational displays of historical tools, pioneer and Indigenous artifacts, volunteers will be sharing their antique tractors and engines, and much more.
This year’s featured programming, Civil War artillery demonstrations by Pelham’s Battery reenactment volunteers, shares a complex perspective of Civil War history through a focus on artillery actions during the war. Storytelling, demonstrations, and interactive displays with the reenactors encourage critical thinking and active engagement while sharing the history of the Civil War. Visit their encampment on the museum grounds and prepare yourself for the thunderous black powder cannon demonstrations to be held at 1pm, 2pm and 3pm. If cannon fire and the opportunity to broaden your knowledge of Civil War history are of interest to you, then be sure join us!
Doyle’s Dogs will be serving up their Chicago Style dogs and Italian Beef Sandwiches and the Historical Society Board will be selling mini homemade pies as our fundraiser. Visit our volunteers in our admissions cabin this year to get your pies before they are gone!
Admission for adults is $5, seniors are $3, students, ages 6 to 18 are $3, and kids 5 years old and younger are free. Annual and lifetime members will get free admission when the member card is presented. Please remember that admissions help us pay for the programming and hosting costs of the event. We greatly appreciate your support so we can continue to share our history.
