Small Class Size: Limited to 10 students with 2 instructors. This ensures every child gets individual attention and support when they need it.
Class Overview: Is your child ready to take their LEGO building to the next level? The Apprentices class is designed specifically for older elementary and middle school students who are new to the world of LEGO MINDSTORMS or want to strengthen their fundamental engineering skills.
In this class, we move beyond simple instructions and start thinking like engineers. We provide a supportive, "try-it-and-see" environment where students learn that making mistakes is just part of the invention process.
What We Will Learn:
Engineering Basics: How to build sturdy drive bases that won’t fall apart during a mission.
Sensors: How to use touch, light, and ultrasonic sensors so the robot can "see" and "feel" the world around it.
Coding: We use block-based programming to teach logic. Students will learn how to make their robots make decisions (like stopping before hitting a wall or following a line).
Problem Solving: We present fun challenges, and the students work together to figure out the best solutions.
Special Event: The Annual Robot Parade! This session features a very special highlight! Students will have the opportunity to design, build, and program a robot specifically for the LabSpace Annual Robot Parade on May 2. The parade is at 1:00, but we'll be putting finishing touches on in the morning, so save the day!
Students will engineer a robot that can navigate the parade route.
They will get to creative sides by decorating their "float" (the robot).
Families are invited to come watch the creations roll by!
