Chouwen Lake Hike – Jabal Moussa Biosphere Reserve
Chouwen Lake, nestled within the Jabal Moussa Biosphere Reserve along the banks of the Ibrahim River, is one of Lebanon’s most captivating natural treasures. Covering about 6,500 hectares, this reserve offers breathtaking views, unique flora and fauna, and unforgettable landscapes.
Our journey will take us through the charming village of Chouwen, where we’ll begin a moderate-level hike.
Hike Details
Level 4 – Moderate (Approx. 7 km)
• Start with a downhill trail leading toward the lake.
• Pause at a wooden balcony in the wilderness, offering a panoramic view of the Ibrahim River.
• Continue the descent to reach the serene Chouwen Lake, where participants can relax and enjoy the tranquil atmosphere.
• Await the arrival of the more advanced group before hiking back together to the starting point.
After the Hike
• Enjoy a homemade traditional lunch at a local guesthouse.
• On the return journey, admire the historic Mameluke bridge, a landmark blending history with natural beauty.

Randonnée au Lac de Chouwen – Réserve de Biosphère de Jabal Moussa
Le Lac de Chouwen, niché au cœur de la Réserve de Biosphère de Jabal Moussa le long des rives du fleuve Ibrahim, est l’un des plus beaux trésors naturels du Liban. Couvrant environ 6 500 hectares, cette réserve offre des paysages époustouflants, une flore et une faune uniques, ainsi qu’une nature inoubliable.
Notre parcours nous mènera au charmant village de Chouwen, où nous commencerons une randonnée de niveau modéré.
Détails de la randonnée
Niveau 4 – Modéré (env. 7 km)
• Début par un sentier en descente menant vers le lac.
• Pause à un balcon en bois en pleine nature, offrant une vue panoramique sur le fleuve Ibrahim.
• Poursuite de la descente jusqu’au lac de Chouwen, où les participants pourront se détendre et profiter de l’ambiance paisible.
• Attente du groupe plus avancé avant de reprendre ensemble le chemin du retour.
Après la randonnée
• Déguster un déjeuner traditionnel fait maison dans une maison d’hôtes locale.
• Sur le chemin du retour, admirer le pont mamelouk historique, un monument alliant histoire et beauté naturelle.
