It is an Age of Chaos.
The king is dead, and with him died the rule of law in the land. Roads fall into disrepair. The wilderness seeks to take back everything that once belonged to it. Barons fight to preserve what civilization is left, but they are isolated. The roads are dangerous. Everything is dangerous.
Sylux, called invincible, now rules here. He pits the different people of Garland against each other. Elves and men and dwarves; no one trusts anyone. This is Sylux’s goal. Religion is outlawed. Only the new Church of the Iron Saint is allowed.
You are all 1st level adventurers. You do not know each other. One night at a local inn, in a town called Nenlast, as you ponder schemes to make money, the town smith bursts into the common room.
Jago, the smith, begs you to set out after a group of cultists who just kidnapped his daughter. A storm is beginning to brew, the rain and wind that comes with it will surely wash away the cultist’s trail if you don’t act fast.
Jago is a desperate man, and will pay you each 30 Silver upon your return with his daughter, alive.
You are probably a human. This is your land. The roads and farms and towns and castles were built by your ancestors.
You might be a dwarf. The Thane of Hamerfast made a pact with Sylux; the dwarves must deliver slaves to Sylux for the privilege to rule themselves. Humans will not trust you.
You could be an elf. The king of Alfheim made a pact with Sylux; the elves must steal magic items and deliver them to Sylux in exchange for the privilege to rule themselves. Humans will not trust you.
You could be a halfling. Everyone loves you!

Description: Strange things have been happening in Chicago recently. People disappearing, strange lights, and hooded figures prowling in the night, and other strange things have been reported in the Chicago Dead Zone. Rumors even say that some of these occurrences have started happening in Chicago proper, sparking a response from the mayor. You are members of the X-men that have been sent to investigate these happenings and and if possible, put a stop to them.

Description: Marlowe Fairwind, the right-hand sorcerer of king emeris, has gathered her most trusted allies to carry an important package to Hush, a small village withing the ancient sablewood forest. They are to follow a map to the home of the whitefire arcanist and deliver a magically sealed crate and be rewarded upon their return.
