Area astronomers and Best Buy staff will have a few telescopes for you to enjoy. Curious about telescopes with build-in navigation systems? Or more of a traditionalist with “naked eye” astronomy?

Dr. Nicholaus MacDonald, Professor of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Mississippi, will be bringing a telescope for you to explore the wonders of the night sky. He’ll also will be on site to share insights into his fascinating research on extragalactic jets.

Explore the Moon with StarMan Bob! Think you know your moon phases? Bob Swanson, instructor in MSU’s Department of Physics & Astronomy and a NASA Solar System Ambassador, is ready to challenge your lunar knowledge! Stop by his booth to pick up one of StarMan Bob’s custom “Lunar Phase Dials.” With it, you'll learn how to identify the moon’s current phase—and go even further by figuring out the time of day and direction you’re facing, all without using your phone!
