Abandoned, by definition, means forsaken. Deserted. Rejected or cast aside. But it also means uninhibited. Liberated. Unrestrained.

Our story follows a young man named Paul, who abandons his old life in the early 1970’s when he returns from Vietnam. Faithless, despised and rejected by the world, he hides his true identity from everyone he meets in the small town of Damascus, Virginia. But by the grace of God and the kindness of strangers, Paul finds unlikely friendship and family as he begins to let his walls down – but will his newfound hope be enough to break the chains of the past and find him – and those close to him – living fully abandoned to the love and freedom found in Jesus?

“Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God — children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.” John 1:12-13
