Exploring an Ecosystem Impacted by High Wind Events

Come explore an ecosystem impacted by high wind events with Peggy Jackson! On this weekday hike through the Tiger Mountain Lowlands, we’ll be enjoying the spring wildflowers as well as checking out how this ecosystem is recovering in the wake of the bomb cyclone and recent windstorms. We will stay together as a group, travelling at a 1.5-2.0 mph pace and may decide to walk around two lakes if time permits.

Please arrive by 10:45AM to check in and acquaint yourself with the group. You should wear clothes and shoes you feel comfortable hiking in along with a snack and water.

TRAILHEAD: High Point Trail
DIRECTIONS: From I-90, a few miles east of Issaquah, take Exit 20 (High Point) and turn south on 270th Ave SE. Just a few yards south of I-90, turn right onto SE 79th St and continue on west. The pavement ends in 0.4 miles, and a gate there is open each day from dawn. Parking at the trailhead does require a discover pass but one can also park below with no Discover Pass.
TRAILS: Travel to Swamp Trail and the Big Tree, Wetlands Trail, Round Lake, Bus Trail and back to the parking lot.
PARKING: High Point Parking Lot (Discover Pass required)
DISTANCE: 3 miles
DURATION: 2 hours
ELEVATION GAIN: variable
