Community Emergency Response Team Class in Island Park

NEW CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) CLASS in Island Park Starting on August 7th. Fremont County Emergency Services is proud to present this free class for all interested community members. The class will run 9 weeks from Aug. 7th to Oct. 2nd. Classes will all be on Thursday evenings from 6:30 pm until 9:30 pm. The Island Park LDS Ward was kind enough to offer their facilities for this class. The Ward is located at 350 Church Ln. in IP. Lessons taught will be Disaster Preparedness, Fire Safety and Utility Controls, Disaster Medical, Light Search and Rescue Operations, Cert Organization, Disaster Psychology, and Terrorism and Cert. Additional bonus classes will be Situational Awareness, Active Shooter, GMRS Radio Communication and how to make a low cost Solar Generator. There is a lot of in depth training that goes well beyond what the lesson titles are. These classes will help insure you are prepared for Family Emergency's as well as Local Emergency's in the community. The better prepared we are as a community, the less the impact to human lives there will be in a small or large disaster. Fire is one of the main worries in IP. Emergency Manager Keith Richey knows the IP area well and gives a fire class that you won't want to miss. It is filled with local information. At the completion of the class you will get a back pack filled with tools and emergency supplies. Cert is for all ages from young adult to senior citizen. There is something for everyone. Bring your family and let your neighbors and friends know about the class. In these challenging times, what you learn at CERT could be the difference between life and death.
