What happens when history sparks new art?
Our landmark exhibition, Badge Of Pride: From Silence…To Celebration!, has inspired artistic expression in various forms. To capture that generative power, we invited 14 queer poets from across North Texas to step into the galleries, spend time with the artifacts, and find resonance with a theme or artifact on display. From those encounters came new poems—works of queer memory, resistance, intimacy, and imagination.
Now, after the exhibit has closed, these voices will take the stage for one powerful performance. Say It Loud! is both retrospective and springboard: a chance to reflect on what this exhibition stirred, and to carry its energy forward into the future.
Featuring:
Presented by Badge Of Pride, The Writer's Garret, and Irving Archives and Museum, this will be an electric afternoon of poetry and performance, rooted in queer history and charged with the urgency of the present. If you haven’t yet seen the exhibition, feel free to come and explore before it closes on September 28.
Then, feel free to join us on October 5th for this free event as we continue to help the world do and bee better.
