Step into the hottest speakeasy of the Roaring Twenties, where the gin is flowing, the jazz is swinging, and—wait, did Orpheus just lose his wife to a mob boss named Pluto? That’s right, folks! In Offenbach’s Orpheus in the Underworld, our hapless hero isn’t exactly heartbroken when his dame, Eurydice, gets snatched away. But when the gods get wind of this scandal, they crash the party faster than a Prohibition raid!
With a cast of flapper goddesses, a Charleston-dancing gods, and the most famous can can to ever shake up Hades, this riotous operetta is a jazz-age romp you won’t want to miss! The Emerging Artist Studio of Lyric Opera OC in the culmination of their two week intensive training program when they present the hysterical Orpheus in the Underworld by Offenbach. Performances are in English with English Supertitles.
