Living in a college town where football seems to occupy left, right, and center in September, there is only one universal understanding of the term "kickoff". But rather than go on defense, we will go on offense and intercept the term for at least one day. Our September 13 chapter meeting punts over to Saluda Shoals where we will huddle for a birdwatching hike in the morning at 9am then break for some refreshments. We will then hand-off to our meeting that will cover the "where we have beens" (also known as Monday morning quarterbacking) and "where we are goings" (you know, the game plan) for our chapter and our birding community. And we'll tackle whatever other topics might pop up.
Don't fumble with excuses! Please plan on joining us: the starters, benchwarmers, A-team, B-team! We think we have the best team around and there is no danger we'll ever cut you! We are still working on getting ESPN GameDay to broadcast from our meeting, but negotiations have stalled because we don't have an oversized Carolina Wren mascot outfit...
WHAT: September 2025 MNBA Chapter Meeting
WHEN: Saturday, September 13
- Birdwatching starts at 9am. We will begin congregating at 8:45am and will attempt to start moving by 9am.
- Meeting starts at 11am, give or take. Usually last for an hour or so.
WHERE: Saluda Shoals Park - Let the gate attendant know you're there for our meeting and they should waive the entrance fee.
The BIRDWATCHING will start in the PARKING LOT of the RIVER CENTER at Saluda Shoals Park. Look for our Carolina Wren sign and binoculars with people attached to them. You can navigate to Saluda Shoals Park: 5605 Bush River Rd, Columbia, SC 29212 and follow the signs for the River Center (or ask the gate attendant for directions)
