Celebrating its 69th year of One-Act Play Festivals, Ipswich Little Theatre is again playing host to a fabulous weekend of plays on the 8th, 9th and 10th August to be held at the beloved Incinerator Theatre in Burley Griffin Drive (in Queen’s Park).
Since the inception of the Drama Festival in 1955, the competition has gone from strength to strength and attracts many local and regional drama groups to the area.
Over the years the festival has been held at the Town Hall, the Ipswich Girls Grammar School and in 2001 the decision was made to move it back to the Incinerator. Of course, Festivals don’t just happen without the dedicated work of many Directors/Volunteers over the years organizing and creating a wonderful friendly competition for all to enjoy.
This year’s adjudicator, Mr. Tim Wynn, certainly has a strong Ipswich connection and is looking forward to providing valuable feedback over the 3 days to the groups performing. Trophies will be presented for best plays in various sections and for best actors and playwrights.
Not only do the dramatic juices flow over the weekend, but it is also a very social event with catering (great bbq lunch on Sunday) including lunches and dinners and bar facilities available for visitors to enjoy our wonderful grounds. We also have some excellent raffles drawn over the weekend. This part is always a highlight.
The public are welcome to attend the various sessions over the weekend from Friday night to Sunday afternoon. The cost is $10 concession & students/ $15 for adults per session.
There will be plays performed, ranging from short 10 minute items through to one-act plays in the Youth and Open sessions during the weekend
Tickets and more information are available through the Visitors Info Centre 3281 0555 2025 or book online at www.ilt.org.au from 15 July
