Excel workshop 5

Please bring your own laptop. If this is an issue, please contact us as soon as possible. If you are booking on behalf of someone else, please ensure they have access to a laptop.

This session is designed both for people who are new to Excel, and for those who wish to improve their Excel skills. It will cover number crunching (simple calculations) and data handling. Below is a suggested list of topics. The actual content of each session will be agreed by the participants on the day, so that everyone can take away learning that is relevant to their work. (The number of topics covered will be subject to the time available.)

• the Excel screen layout

• simple calculations (using +, -, *, /)

• wrapping text

• using Comma style

• using the Fill handle

• using the SUM function

• using AutoSum

• using the AVERAGE function

• on-screen calculations

• calculating percentages by creating a simple formula

• displaying all formulas on screen

• how to copy formulas correctly

• customising the Quick Access Toolbar

• sorting and filtering data

• freezing column headings

• pivot tables (to aggregate and analyse data)

• conditional formatting (to apply a traffic light system - red, amber, green - to approaching deadline dates)

• creating a simple chart

Please note that this workshop is for PC users, and is not suitable for MAC users.

Cancellation policy: In the event of you no longer being able to attend the workshop, we require 7 days notice in order to issue a refund. We can transfer your ticket to an alternative date if spaces are available and given at least 24 hours notice. If you are unwell on the day we can refund your ticket once you have rebooked onto an alternative session.
