Anchors Away - Suffolk and the Sea

Explore Suffolk’s swashbuckling maritime history with our summer exhibition Anchors Away - Suffolk and the Sea.

Batten down the hatches for tales of dashing local pirates, terrifying smuggling gangs and ferocious sea battles. There'll also be stories of the county's pioneering boat builders and bustling ports shipping goods around the globe.

The exhibition runs 27 June to 27 September at The Hold in Ipswich - home to Suffolk Archives. It's open 10am-5pm, Monday-Saturday, and 10am-9.30pm on the second Thursday of the month. It's suitable for all ages. Admission is free.

There will be accompanying talks, walks, and workshops too which you can see on our website.
