Shannon Residency artist Ashley McKenzie presents a "Black Christmas" program of short films at Beinn Mhàbu.
📅 Friday, December 5th at 7pm
📍 32 MacDonald Rd, Mabou
🎬 Free screening + artist talk
Featuring films that centre the point-of-view of youth protagonists and delve into the queer-terrain of being the so-called “black sheep.”
Followed by an artist talk with filmmaker Malcolm MacMaster, visiting from Halifax. His debut short, SON OF MAN, starring fiddling icon Ashley MacIsaac, has never screened in Canada.
Often working with 8mm video, Malcolm hails from Troy on the West Coast of Unama’ki-Cape Breton and is a nephew of famed-fiddler Natalie MacMaster.
Join us for a darker-tinged exploration of the holidays at Beinn Mhàbu!
